Our Beard of Summer Town Hall brought together a small but incredibly engaged group of people for an evening of stories, family, Parkinson’s, laughter, and, yes, increasingly questionable ideas about what should happen to my beard.
At the heart of it was a simple idea: We are family. Connection is Medicine.

When Third Base premiered at the World Parkinson Congress in Phoenix, it was standing-room-only -- singing, dancing, laughing, and shouting out suggestions to the screen. The response reinforced something I’ve come to believe more strongly with every year of this journey: Parkinson’s is about far more than symptoms.
It is about identity. Family. Purpose. Humor. Loss. Love. And our need to remain connected to one another through all of it.
That’s why it was especially meaningful to recently see the team behind Michael Okun and Ray Dorsey’s The Parkinson’s Plan feature my conversation with Michael under the heading “Connection is Medicine,” with “The Future of Parkinson’s” prominently displayed between us.
